Home: Welcome
As a school counselor, Christie J. Jones encounters heartbreaking stories of children facing homelessness, poverty, depression and other situations beyond their control.
Christie has been featured, extensively, in news outlets for her recently
published children’s book, "Are We Home Yet?". The book deals with homelessness among children and their families. She decided to write the book after working with children who are, indeed, in schools but homeless.
Statistics show that 75 percent of homeless students perform below their
grade level.
As an elementary school counselor in Virginia, Christie teaches students conflict resolution, decision-making, communication and life skills. She directs the homelessness ministry at Shiloh New Baptist Church in Stafford,
Virginia. Christie holds a master’s degree in Secondary School Counseling from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Teaching Children with Autism.
Christie has been featured in several news outlets for her children's book "Are We Home Yet?", including a feature on News Channel 8, the Stafford County Sun, Street Sense and the Examiner.
